If a member of the security department staff is to operate efficiently, they must be regarded with respect by both management and other employees. To achieve this, high standards of behaviour, integrity and conscientiousness must be maintained.

 

1. Obedience To Instructions

 

Security officers will not disobey or neglect to carry out any reasonable instruction, whether or otherwise given by manager to whom they are responsible.

 

 

2. Neglect of duty

 

The security officer will not:

 

  1. fail to carry out his work in accordance with instructions;

 

  1. Leave his place of duty without permission;

 

  1. Fail to report any matter which it is their duty to report;

 

  1. Fail to make any necessary reports and entries in any official document or book kept in the course of their work.

 

 

3. Falsehood

 

In connection with their work, security officers shall not:

 

  1. knowingly make or sign any false, misleading or inaccurate document or book;

 

  1. willfully or negligently make any false, misleading or inaccurate statement;

 

  1. destroy or mutilate any document or record, or alter or erase any entry there in.

 

 

4. Breach of Contract

 

Security officers shall not:

 

  1. divulge any matter which is their duty to keep confidential

 

  1. without due authorization show any book record or document in connection with their

work, or which is regarded by his employers as being confidential to an unauthorized person:

 

  1. make any anonymous communication in connection with their work to any person.

 

 

 

 

5. Corrupt Practice

 

No security officer shall corruptly:

 

  1. Solicit or receive any bribe or other consideration from any fellow employee, contractor, or any other person with whom their duty brings them into contract.

 

  1. Improperly use their position in relation to other employees to their personal advantage.

 

  1. Fail to account for any lost property or monies received by them in an official capacity.

 

 

6. Unnecessary Exercise or Authority

 

No Security Officer shall:

 

  1. be uncivil to other employees , visitors or other persons encountered in the course of their work, or use language to such person of which could be regarded a objectionable;

 

  1. make unnecessary use of their authority in such a manner as to cause reasonable complaint by other employees, visitors, or other persons lawfully on other employee’s premises.

 

 

7. Discreditable Conduct

 

No security Officer shall act at any time in a manner reasonably likely to bring discredit upon his colleagues, employer, or other employees.

 

8. Deportment

 

Whilst on duty, Security Officers will have tidy hair, polished shoes, with smart, clean, pressed clothing/ uniform as laid down in the company policy. Male Security Officers will be clean-shaven or facial hair will be neatly trimmed.
