PROCEDURE

For those hotels that are required to offer a service of left luggage to customers who have vacated the hotel, the following procedures must be applied:-

It must be pointed out to the depositor that left luggage over the value of £500 in total should not be left at the hotel.

A left luggage book should be maintained at the reception/luggage room.

The departing guest must agree with the terms and conditions of the left luggage policy and sign their name accordingly.

The terms and conditions must be displayed prominently at the reception desk/luggage room in the form of a notice.

This notice should also be displayed in the left luggage book adjacent to the signed depositors entry.

A numbered two part carbonated ticket should be used.

The top section should be issued to the depositor and bottom section should be signed by the depositor and attached to the left luggage.

The return of property to the depositor is then by means of ticket number and signature verification.

Redeemed tickets and luggage books must be stored at the hotel for a minimum of two years.
